Skin Conditions

Changes to the skin of your feet can develop for many reasons. Areas of hard skin, itching, cracking, irritation, discolouration or unusual lesions may be related to pressure, infection, inflammation or an underlying skin condition.

What are foot skin conditions?

The skin of our feet is exposed to pressure, friction, moisture and footwear every day, making it particularly susceptible to changes and irritation.

Some problems, such as callus and corns, develop in response to repeated pressure. Others may be caused by viral or fungal infections, while conditions such as eczema can affect the skin's natural barrier and lead to dryness, itching or inflammation.

Different skin conditions can sometimes look surprisingly similar. Identifying what the skin change is and why it has developed helps us determine the most appropriate way to manage it.
